Why does the next billing date change after gifting a subscription?

Prev Next

When a subscriber gifts their next order, the next billing date recalculates based on when the gift was placed, not the original billing schedule. This is expected behavior.

What happens when a subscriber gifts their next order?

Gifting sends the next order immediately. Because the order processes right away, the billing date resets relative to the time the gift was placed, just like it would after any order that ships early.

Example: If a subscriber's next billing date is March 3rd and they gift their order on February 17th with a monthly billing interval, the new next billing date will land around March 17th.

Can I manually correct a next billing date that shifted after gifting?

Yes. If a subscriber's billing date shifted in a way that doesn't work for them, you can manually update the next billing date from the subscription record in your Skio Dashboard.

  1. Go to Subscribers > Subscriptions and open the subscription.

  2. Find the More button and then click on Set date and update it to the preferred date.

  3. Save your changes.

Update the next billing date from the Subscription card.

Will the billing date always shift when a subscriber gifts?

Yes, this is the current behavior when gifting. The next billing date recalculates from when the gift order is placed, not from the original billing date.
