If you're migrating to Skio, you may notice that customers are able to place subscription orders through the Shop app before you're ready to go live. This happens because the Shop app automatically displays any active subscription plans (called selling_plans) as soon as they exist in Shopify.
That means as soon as Skio generates subscription plans during setup, those plans become visible in the Shop app and available for purchase even if you haven’t finished migrating or aren't ready for customers to subscribe yet.
How to prevent early subscription orders during migration
Option 1: Disable subscriptions in Shop Pay (recommended)
If you don’t rely heavily on Shop Pay during this time, you can temporarily turn off its subscription feature:
In your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Payments.
Click Manage next to Shop Pay.
Under Accelerated Checkouts, uncheck Subscriptions.
Click Save.
This hides all subscription options in the Shop app until you’re ready to launch.
Note:
Only you (the merchant) can do this. Skio does not have access to your Shop Pay settings.
Option 2: Optimize migration
If turning off Shop Pay isn’t an option, such as if you are actively selling through the Shop app, the best approach is to complete your migration and launch as quickly as possible.
For self-serve merchants, this helps reduce the window where unintended subscriptions might be placed. If you are working with our migrations team, we will coordinate closely with you to minimize risk and ensure a smooth transition.
