What are Quick Actions?

Quick actions are links that can be used in emails or SMS notifications to help subscribers take an action on their subscription quickly without needing to log into their Customer Portal. When a subscriber clicks on the link, they're taken to a landing page to see the action that will be performed and they can confirm the action with a single click. These links have a wide range of applications from helping to skip an upcoming order to reduce churn to reactivating a cancelled subscription via a winback flow to adding on more products to an upcoming order to increase revenue. 

Quick Actions allows for a variety of actions that can be executed directly from a customer’s subscription. Multiple actions can be stacked together. See our full list of available actions here.

How to create a Quick Action

Configuring Action Settings

  1. Access Action Settings: In the Skio Dashboard, navigate to the "Quick Actions" section and click on "Action settings."

  2. Enable Authentication: Toggle authentication settings for each Quick Action, depending on the security needs of your store.

  3. Select Actions: Choose from a variety of available actions, such as "Apply Discount" or "Swap Product." See the full list of our available Quick Actions here.

Stacking Multiple Actions

  1. Navigate to Action Configuration: Go to "Action configuration" in the Quick Actions section.

  2. Add Actions: Choose an initial action like "Swap Product" and configure its details. Then, add another action like "Change Interval."

  3. Preview: Use the "Preview" button to visualize how the stacked actions will appear to customers.

Adding Custom Titles

  1. Set Custom Title: Within the "URL settings and actions" section, locate the "Custom title for customer page" field.

  2. Enter Title: Input a descriptive title such as "Upgrade Now" or "Exclusive Offer."

  3. Save: This title will be visible to customers when they interact with the Quick Action link.

Setting Expiration Dates

  1. Set Expiration: In the "URL settings" section, select an expiration date for the Quick Action link.

  2. Apply: Ensure the Quick Action is only available within the specified time frame, ideal for promotions.

After a link is created, it will populate in the Quick actions table for easy access in the future. The table allows you to quickly copy the link to use in a notification, see when it was created and what actions it will perform, and quickly change the link's status if a link should be disabled or see if it expired. 

Authentication Settings

To ensure privacy protection, all actions require authentication by default. If you prefer to disable authentication, you can toggle on and off each available action in the Authentication setting tab. When authentication is enabled, a user must be logged in OR authenticated via an access token. Our Klaviyo integration is setup with access tokens so if you're using Klaviyo to send a quick action link, the user will be authenticated automatically.

How Do Quick Actions Work?

Quick Actions are URLs that take a subscriber to their customer portal and perform a specific action on their subscription. If the subscriber is logged in, they can confirm the action immediately. If not, they will be prompted to log in first.

User Journey

Logged-In Customers:

  1. Customer clicks the Quick Action link.

  2. They confirm the action on a confirmation page.

  3. The subscription is updated, and they are redirected to the customer portal.

Customers Not Logged In:

  1. Customer clicks the link.

  2. They are prompted to log in.

  3. After logging in, they confirm the action.

Recommendations and Best Practices

  • Using Quick Actions in Notifications: Embed Quick Action URLs in Skio or Klaviyo notifications to simplify customer interactions. Examples include placing a "Delay" link in billing reminder emails or a "Reactivate + Apply Discount" link in cancellation win-back flows.

  • Personalize Quick Actions: Customize actions to fit specific customer journeys and enhance their experience. For instance, offering a "Get Now" option in billing reminders allows customers to process their next order immediately.

  • Combine Actions: Leverage the ability to stack actions, such as "Swap Product" and "Apply Discount," to create compelling offers for customers.

Quick Action Analytics

On the quick actions page, the Analytics tab provides robust analytics on the performance of quick action links in a selected date range. 

Selectors, Segments, and Exports

  • Date range selector

    • Use the date range selector to filter the dashboard for quick action links taken and clicked in a time period. By default, the date range is set to the last 30 days.

  • Link selector

    • The link selector allows you to filter the dashboard for specific quick action links in the date range. By default, all links clicked in the date range will be selected.

  • Export CSV

    • The export includes all the raw audit log events taken by subscribers in the date range per link and includes clicks that resulted on the quick action landing page being viewed, a successful link taken, and each individual action taken in a successful link.

    • Each row is an audit log event type that was taken by an individual subscription on a date. The action count column shows the total number of times that action or event type was taken on a specific subscription on the day it was taken.

    • If a subscription successfully used a quick action link, a row will be generated for the click (quick action page viewed), the success (quick action stack taken), and the action (ex: ‘Quick action to add one time upsell taken’) for a total of three rows for that subscription on that day. If a link has more than one action included, a row will be generated for each action that was successfully performed on the subscription.

    • Understanding the export’s event types

      • Quick action stack taken: The count of each link taken per subscription per day.

      • Quick action page viewed: The count of each link opened that took the subscriber to the quick action landing page per subscription per day.

      • Quick action [action type name]: The count of the unique action successfully performed by a link taken per subscription per day. Each successful link taken per day will also include a row for each unique action taken on a subscription per day.

    • Create segments

      • By clicking this button, we will generate a dynamic segment of subscriptions that has ever successfully taken quick action link selected

      • The dynamic segment will start generating and can be accessed on the Segments page once it’s complete including a raw export of all subscriptions and their subscription details

Successful Links, Actions, and Conversion Rates

  • Successful links: The count of unique links successfully actioned on a subscription in the date range. If a subscriber uses a link more than once on their subscription, each successful use of the link will count towards the total.

  • Unique actions: The unique count of actions performed on subscriptions by successful links taken in the date range. If a link includes multiple actions, each unique action is counted. For example, a link that “reactivates and applies a discount code”, there are two unique actions performed.

  • Total clicks: The total count of times a link was clicked by a subscriber and they landed on the quick action landing page. A click is counted each time a subscriber opens the link and lands on the quick action landing page.

  • Conversion rate: The percentage of quick action landing page clicks that resulted in a successful link taken in the date range. A subscriber can click, or open, a link multiple times in the date range.

  • Successful links: The distribution of quick action landing page visits that resulted in a successful link taken versus no action taken.

  • Daily Successful links taken: The count of all successful links taken each day in the date range.

  • Daily Unique Actions: The total count of unique actions performed by successful links each day in the date range.

  • Successful links: The count of successful times this link was taken by a subscriber in the date range.

  • Unique actions: The total count of actions performed on subscriptions from this link in the date range.

  • Clicks: The total count of times this link was opened by a subscriber in the date range.

  • Conversion rate: The total count of times this link was opened, or clicked, by a subscriber divided by the total count of successful links taken in the date range.

  • Create segment button: Clicking this purple button will generate a popup modal that lets you create a dynamic segment of subscriptions that ever successfully took action on the link.



FAQ

What happens if a Quick Action link expires?

The link becomes inactive, and customers will be notified that the offer or action is no longer available.

Can Quick Actions be used without authentication?

Yes, certain actions can be set up to bypass authentication, which is useful for non-sensitive changes.

How can I ensure a Quick Action link works correctly?

You can preview the action in the Skio dashboard or test the link in a safe environment before deploying it in customer-facing communications.

Are Quick Action links specific to each integration?

Yes, each Quick Action link is tailored for the integration it will be used in (e.g., Klaviyo, Skio notifications), ensuring it functions correctly for that context.
