This feature is part of Skio’s Loyalty Program. To add this feature to your store, reach out to our sales team at sales@skio.com.
How do I set up Credits?
Step 1: Navigate to your Skio Dashboard
In the Skio Dashboard sidebar, select Loyalty > Credits.
Step 2: Configure your Global credit settings
In the Global credit settings section, select Edit and configure the following settings:
Configure main credit settings
Adjust how credits and loyalty rewards appear to your customers:
Custom credit name (optional): Replace the default Credits label with your own term (e.g., “Store Cash”). Leave blank to use the default.
Currency to credit conversion rate: Define how many credits a customer earns per dollar spent. For example,
1 USD = 10 credits. Note: This is based on your store’s currency.Loyalty discount code prefix (optional): Add a custom prefix for loyalty discount codes (e.g.,
MEMBER). If left blank, Skio will generate one automatically.Show loyalty balance card in the customer portal: Decide whether to display the balance as a currency amount or as credits. Many brands show the currency value to help customers understand their savings more clearly.
Enable or disable credit expiry
You can choose whether customer credits expire. When Credit expiry is enabled, you can configure the following settings:
Expire after inactivity: Set how long credits last after a customer becomes inactive.
Expire after a customer received credit: Set how long credits are valid after they're issued.
Expiry notification: Choose when to notify customers before their credits expire.
If you have credit expiration enabled, manually added credits may not apply unless you toggle “Never expire these credits” when issuing them. Enabling this ensures the credits apply immediately and won’t expire.

This toggle appears once you add a positive value of credits.
Skio does not send a native email or in-app notification. Expiry alerts are sent via integration through Klaviyo or through Skio SMS.
Set where customers can redeem credits
Choose where credits can be applied by customers:
Checkout (Shopify Plus only): Requires the Skio Credit Checkout Extension, see our Credit Checkout Extension guide here.
Customer Portal: Customers can apply credits directly from their portal during subscription updates.
Credit redemption on one time purchases or subscriptions
Allow customers to redeem credits for one time purchases or subscriptions:
Subscriptions: Customers can redeem credits for their subscription purchases.
One time purchases: Customers can redeem credits for the one time purchases.
Combining credits and discounts
Set whether credits can be combined with other discounts. This is reflective of Shopify discount codes:
Product discounts: If an item is eligible for multiple product discounts, only the largest will apply.
Order discounts: Order discounts are applied after any eligible product discounts.
Shipping discounts: To let customers use more than one discount, set up at least one shipping discount that combines with product discounts.
This does not apply retroactively to existing discounts created.
Excluding products from earning credits
Select any products that should not earn credits per dollar spent.
If a discount code is applied to an eligible product, the discounted amount will reduce the credits earned.
Configure who can access loyalty credits
Set which customers can access loyalty credits. This setting can be used as a Test mode for testing your loyalty program:
Enable credits for all customers: Select this to give all customers access to tiers.
Enable credits for select customers (recommended during program setup): Select this option to limit credit access to only the customer emails you enter in the text box. This is useful during setup to test the customer experience before going live. Note: Enter one email per line.
Disable credits for all customers: Select this to disable credits for all customers.
Step 3: Save your changes
When you're done, click Done editing at the top of the section to save your changes.
Step 4: Configure base level rewards
Skio includes built-in base rewards that you can customize to fit your loyalty program.
Credits per dollar spent: Reward customers with credits for every dollar they spend. This is a rolling incentive that encourages repeat purchases and larger carts. You can set the credit-to-dollar ratio to match your loyalty strategy.
Create an account: Offer credits to new customers when they create an account. This is a great way to encourage account signups and build your subscriber base early.
Member anniversary: Celebrate customer loyalty by granting credits on the anniversary of their first order.
Leave a review: Incentivize customer feedback by awarding credits when someone leaves a product review.
Signup for newsletter: Encourage email list growth by giving credits to customers who sign up for your newsletter. Great if you’re looking to grow your owned marketing channels.
Step 5: Add a reward
Create your own rewards that give customers credits when completed.
To get started, click Add reward.
Choose what action customers need to take to earn the reward and configure the settings.
Custom action: Set up a custom trigger using Shopify Flow (See our guide on integrating Loyalty with Shopify Flow here).
Date of birth: Award credits to customers on their birthday with a custom birthday reward.
Signup for SMS: Grant credits when a customer opts in to receive SMS messages.
Step 6: Configure product redemption
Allow customers to redeem their credits for specific products. To add a redeemable product:
Click Add product.
Select the product you want to offer for credit redemption.
Set the credit cost required to redeem the product.
Choose which customer tiers are eligible for this offer.

Merchants must have Multipass enabled in their Shopify store for the Checkout Block to function properly. Without Multipass enabled, customers who log in through Skio (rather than directly through Shopify) will be prompted to log in again when they reach the checkout page.
