Auto-Merge Billing

What is auto-Merge Billing?

When enabled, Skio will automatically merge multiple subscription orders for the same customer into a single order if they fall within the configured merge window. This occurs before Skio sends the order data to Shopify, helping reduce shipping costs and environmental impact where possible.

To qualify for auto-merge, all of the following conditions must be met:

  • Both subscriptions are subscribe-and-save

  • Both ship to the exact same address

  • Both subscriptions are active

  • Both use the same Payment Method

  • Delivery price has not been overridden (unless all subscriptions being merged have the same override)

  • Neither subscription includes a dynamic custom box

  • Neither subscriptions is prepaid

  • Neither subscription has a shipping discount

For example, if two orders are to be merged, one set to process on January 1st, and one on January 2nd. The two subscriptions will merge and bill on January 1st.

When orders are merged a Klaviyo trigger subscriptionAutoMerged will be sent and the merge is noted in the audit log for the customer.

Note

Skio automatically merges order notes into one order when auto-merging subscriptions.

How to set up auto-merge billing

  1. Go to Skio > Settings > Billing & Orders and toggle on Enable auto-merge billing.

  2. You can also optionally enter a value in “Merge subscriptions within this many days” to customize the merge window. By default this is set to 1 day.

How do I know when subscriptions have been merged?

You can see a full list of subscriptions that were auto-merged by exporting the audit log and selecting "Subscription billing auto-merged". The system will also trigger a Klaviyo flow "Subscription billing auto merged".

In Shopify, this is how a merged order will appear:
