Overview

Subscription tags are a great way to identify any customers or orders with a subscription in Shopify.

You can use these tags for segmentation, reporting, and more.

Order Tags

From Shopify Admin > Orders you will see the tag Subscription First Order for the customer's first subscription order and Subscription Recurring Order for any following orders. There is also the Subscription Order: {cycleCount} tag that shows the order count.

FAQ

When a customer cancels their subscription, does Skio change their "Active product subscription" tag into a "Cancelled product subscription" tag in Shopify?

As long as the customer has at least one active subscription, they will retain the "Active product subscription" tag in Shopify. We don’t add a "Cancelled product subscription" tag on top of it unless all subscriptions are fully cancelled.

When a customer starts their subscription, does Skio give them the "Active product subscription" tag in Shopify? What happens if a customer has multiple subscriptions?

Yes — when a customer starts a subscription, Skio adds the "Active product subscription" tag in Shopify. This tag works at the subscriber level, not the individual subscription level. So even if a customer has multiple subscriptions, as long as at least one remains active, they’ll keep the active tag. If they cancel all subscriptions, that tag is removed and the "Cancelled product subscription" tag is added instead.
