What Skio merchants need to know about Shopify’s payment infrastructure changes

What’s changing?

Shopify is rolling out a new payments infrastructure. Third-party payment gateways like Authorize.net and Stripe must now connect through this updated system. This change affects apps that process subscriptions with recurring charges like Skio.

Why this matters

Skio does not process payments directly. Instead, subscription payments flow through your connected payment gateway using Shopify’s infrastructure. If your payment gateway isn’t updated correctly, some transactions may not process as expected.

I received an email about a deadline to upgrade my payment gateway. Can I upgrade my gateway now?

Yes. That said, because these payment gateways are the direct source of your revenue, we strongly recommend being fully prepared before making any changes.

If you work with a Merchant Success Manager (MSM), consult them before making any changes. You can also reach out to Skio’s support team for help reviewing your setup.

What to watch for during the upgrade

After you've connected your new payment gateway, make sure to turn off your old (legacy) gateway to avoid duplicate charges or routing issues.

For help with anything inside the payment gateway, we recommend reaching out to their support team directly. They’ll have the most context on the data flowing through their system.
