Automated recurring price changes (no Journey required) are available on request. Contact Skio support at help@skio.com to get this enabled for your store.
Before you get started
Recurring Price Policy is configured in your Selling Plan settings. You'll need an active Subscribe & Save Selling Plan before setting this up. See Getting started with Selling Plans if you haven't created one yet.
Recurring Price Policy applies to Subscribe & Save plans only. Prepaid subscriptions are not supported.
Recurring price changes previously required a Journey. As of May 2026, automated recurring price policy is available on request — contact Skio support at help@skio.com to have it enabled for your store.
What is a Recurring Price Policy?
Recurring Price Policy is a setting in your Selling Plan that lets you define a different discount for recurring orders after a set number of cycles. Once the threshold is reached, Skio automatically updates the subscription price.
This is the native way to offer tiered subscription pricing in Skio, such as a higher first-order discount to attract new subscribers and a lower ongoing discount for recurring orders.
Example: 30% off first order, 20% off ongoing
Here's how Recurring Price Policy works with a $100 product configured for 30% off the first order and 20% off recurring orders:
First order / checkout price: $70 (30% off)
After the first completed order: Skio automatically updates the subscription price to $80 (20% off). The Customer Portal reflects this new price.
Product adds and swaps: If the subscriber adds or swaps a product, Skio applies the correct price based on how many cycles they've completed.
How to set up Recurring Price Policy
Step 1: Navigate to Selling Plans
In the left-hand menu of your Skio Dashboard, go to Products > Selling Plans.
Step 2: Open your Selling Plan
Select the Subscribe & Save Selling Plan you want to configure, or create a new one.
Step 3: Configure the recurring pricing policy
Scroll to the Advanced section of the Selling Plan.
Under Recurring pricing policy, set After cycle to the number of cycles that should pass before the recurring discount applies. For a first-order discount that changes after order 1, set this to
1.Set the Pricing method — choose Percentage off or Set price.
Enter the Discount value for the recurring rate (e.g.,
20for 20% off).Click Save in the top right corner.

The Recurring Price Policy fields in the Advanced section of a Selling Plan.
Note: Once saved, Skio will automatically apply the recurring discount to subscriptions after the configured cycle threshold is reached. You do not need to create a Journey for this to work if you have the latest version enabled for your store.
What subscribers see
Recurring Price Policy affects pricing at two points in the subscriber experience:
At checkout: Subscribers see the first-order discount price. The recurring rate is displayed as a future pricing note so they know what to expect after their first order.
In the Customer Portal: Once the cycle threshold is met, the Customer Portal updates to show the recurring discount price. Subscribers will see their correct ongoing rate when they log in to manage their subscription.

FAQ
Do I still need a Journey for Recurring Price Policy?
No, when enabled for your store, Skio handles the recurring price change automatically after the configured cycle threshold. You only need a Journey if you have a more complex custom pricing scenario beyond what the native Recurring Price Policy supports, or if you have not yet upgraded to the latest automated version. Reach out to Skio Support at help@skio.com to have this enabled for your store.
Did this work differently before?
Yes. Previously, the Recurring Price Policy setting only affected how pricing was displayed at checkout — it didn't actually update the subscription price. Merchants had to build a Journey to apply the discount change after the first order. That workaround is no longer required as of May 2026 once enabled for your store.
What happens when a subscriber swaps a product?
Skio applies the correct price based on the number of cycles the subscriber has already completed and the target product's Selling Plan policy. If they've passed the threshold, the recurring rate applies automatically.
Will the Customer Portal show the correct recurring price?
Yes. Once a subscriber reaches the cycle threshold, the portal updates to reflect their ongoing rate.
Does this work for prepaid subscriptions?
No. Recurring Price Policy applies to Subscribe & Save plans only. Prepaid subscriptions are not supported.
