Build-a-Box customer experience

Build-a-Box lets customers create a custom subscription box by selecting their own products, quantities, and frequency—all from the storefront. Rather than subscribing to a fixed product, customers build a personalized bundle that ships on a recurring schedule.

This guide covers what customers see and interact with throughout the Build a Box experience, from storefront to managing their subscription in their Customer Portal.

Static box customer experience

Storefront buy pages

On the storefront, customers will see Static boxes as a regular product, different than the custom Box Builder configuration for dynamic and sectioned boxes. They can add the product to their cart as a one-time or subscription.

Customer portal

From the Customer Portal, customers can click on Edit items to manage the products in their Static box.

Storefront buy pages

Customers navigate to your box builder page URL and:

  1. Select products from the eligible products you've defined.

  2. See the total price adjust as they add or remove products.

  3. View the discount progress bar (if enabled) showing how close they are to unlocking the next discount tier.

  4. Choose to purchase as a one-time order or subscription (unless you've disabled one-time purchases).

  5. Complete checkout.

Customer Portal

Customers can edit their box anytime in the customer portal:

  1. An Edit box products button appears in their subscription details.

  2. Clicking this button opens the box customizer.

  3. Customers can add or remove products within the box constraints.

  4. For specific size boxes, customers can upgrade or downgrade between defined sizes.

  1. Select products from the eligible dynamic boxes you've defined.

  2. See the total price adjust as they add or remove products.

  3. Choose to purchase as a one-time order or subscription (unless you've disabled one-time purchases).

  4. Complete checkout.

Customer Portal

Subscribers can easily edit their sectioned boxes from the customer portal:

  1. An Edit items button appears for any subscription that includes a Sectioned Box.

  2. Customers can add or remove products from any section.

  3. Customers can upgrade or downgrade option sizes within each section.
