What is a magic login link?
A magic login link or magic link lets customers access their customer portal without entering a code or password. When clicked, it takes them directly to their account with no login required.
These links are included in the same email that contains the standard 4-digit login code. Customers can choose to use either method to log in.
Note
Magic links expire after 3 minutes for security purposes. If the link expires, customers can request a new login email.
Do I need to enable magic links?
No setup is required—magic links are automatically included in all Skio login emails. There’s nothing you need to turn on or configure. This feature is especially helpful for customers with limited mobile service, such as those in rural areas who may have trouble receiving SMS codes.
How do customers get the magic link?
Automatically when attempting to login
Customers receive the magic link via email when they attempt to log in. Here’s how it works:
A customer enters their email or phone number to log in.
Skio sends a 4-digit login code via email and SMS (if a number is on file).
That same email includes a clickable magic link that logs the customer in instantly and expires in 3 minutes.
Manually from the Skio Dashboard > Subscription Management
You can generate and send a magic login link directly from the Subscription card on a customer’s profile in the Skio Dashboard to send directly to customers:
Go to the Subscription Management tab and navigate to a customer's subscription.
Under Actions in the subscription card, click Magic link.
The link is automatically copied to your clipboard and will expire after 3 minutes. You can paste and send it directly to your customer.
Manually from the Skio Dashboard > Customer Management
You can generate a magic login link directly from a customer’s profile in the Skio Dashboard to send directly to customers:
Go to the Customers tab and open a customer’s profile.
Under Actions, click Magic login.
The link is automatically copied to your clipboard and will expire after 3 minutes. You can paste and send it directly to your customer.
What's the difference between the Portal link and Magic link?
Magic links expire after 3 minutes and bypass the login screen. If you’re sending the link via email or expect a delay before it’s opened, we recommend using the Portal link instead, which leads a customer to login to their customer portal. This link does not expire and provides the same access after a standard login.
