Overview: How to Set Up a Shipping Profile for Subscriptions in Skio
With the latest updates, Skio now allows you to create multiple shipping profiles tailored to specific selling plan groups. Previously, merchants could only create one shipping profile, which would assign all subscription products to it by default. This new feature introduces greater flexibility and automation, making it easier to manage shipping across different subscription offerings.
What’s New?
-
Multiple Shipping Profiles:
- You can now create separate shipping profiles for each selling plan group or assign multiple selling plan groups to a single shipping profile.
- For example, you could set up:
- A general shipping profile for all subscription products.
- A free shipping profile specifically for "Build a Box" subscriptions.
-
Automatic Updates:
- Previously, you needed to manually resync shipping every time a new product was added for it to update the shipping profile.
- Now, any new product added to a selling plan group will automatically update the associated shipping profile.
-
New Selling Plan Group Handling:
- When a new selling plan group is created, merchants must select the shipping profile they want to assign to it, ensuring the right configuration from the start.
Step-by-Step Setup
Step 1: Navigate to the Shipping Section
- From the Skio dashboard, click on Settings in the left-hand menu.
- Under the Billing & Orders section, select Shipping.
Step 2: Create a New Shipping Profile
- On the Shipping page, click the + Create new profile button in the top-right corner.
- Enter a name for your shipping profile in the Shipping profile name field (e.g., "Subscription Free Shipping" or "Build a Box Shipping").
Step 3: Add Selling Plans to the Profile
- Under the Selling plans included section, search for the selling plans you want to assign to this profile.
- Select the checkbox next to the relevant plans.
- A warning will appear if the selected plan is already part of another shipping profile. Confirm to move it to the new profile.
- Some use cases:
- Assign all subscription products to the Shopify General Shipping Profile by default.
- Create a separate Free Shipping Profile for "Build a Box" subscriptions.
- Click Create profile to save your changes.
Step 4: Duplicate Shopify Shipping Profiles (Optional)
- Scroll down to the Select a source shipping profile from Shopify section.
- Choose an existing Shopify shipping profile to duplicate its zones and rates.
- Optionally, enable free shipping rates for this profile.
Step 5: Configure Shipping Settings
- Adjust settings in the Shipping settings section based on your preferences:
- Update shipping if subscription changes: Automatically recalculate shipping if a subscription is updated in Shopify.
- Recurring free shipping override: Guarantee free shipping for all subscription orders after checkout.
- Exclude lines from shipping price calculation: Prevent certain subscription items from impacting shipping prices.
- Exclude out-of-stock items in shipping price calculation: Ensure out-of-stock items do not affect shipping price calculations.
Step 6: Save and Sync Changes
- Click Save changes to finalize your shipping profile settings.
- If necessary, use the Resync shipping button at the top-right to manually apply updates.
Key Benefits of the New Shipping Profiles
- Flexibility: Assign different shipping policies to various selling plan groups, such as offering free shipping for specific subscription types while using default Shopify rates for others.
- Automation: New products added to a selling plan group will automatically update the associated shipping profile, reducing manual effort.
- Tailored Control: Each selling plan group requires a designated shipping profile upon creation, ensuring precision in shipping management.
