Segments dashboard

Outline

Overview

🎉  May 2024 updates  🎉

  • Added an option to create dynamic segments that sync nightly at 12am EST to ensure that segment to add new subscriptions that match the segment conditions and remove the subscriptions that no longer apply
  • This dashboard is our most granular dashboard available allowing you to create custom segments of subscriptions to track their performance over time.
  • Segments also introduces an audit log table to track all actions taken on a subscription and tie them to revenue metrics to see their impact.
  • Retention (copied from our Cohort dashboard) and a products table are also provided.
  • If you want to track how Skio features and subscription behavior is impacting revenue. performing and retention/churn metrics, this is the dashboard for you!
  • Need help with creating custom segments in the dashboard? Use this guide: Custom segments best practice.

Data questions this dashboard answers

  • How does S&D impact subscription value and retention?
  • How does Cancel Flow saves impact subscription value and retention post-save?
  • What are the different actions taken by subscriptions and how does it impact KPIs and retention?
  • What are the KPIs of specific subscriptions created in a specific time period?
  • What is the shipping interval distribution for subscriptions? (eg. 30 day vs 60 days)
  • How many of products were added to subscriptions, removed, and are currently active for subs created in the date range selected?

Things to keep in mind

  1. The date range used at the top of dashboard is used for tracking actions, orders/revenue, and subscription metrics for all subs in that date range.
  2. You can create a custom segment of subscriptions to filter the entire dashboard for only the subscriptions that match the conditions in your custom segment.
  3. By default, the dashboard will provide metrics for all subscriptions in the date range; a segment can be applied via the filter at the top.
  4. Want a walkthrough of the dashboard? Click the "i" icon button in the upper right hand to trigger a tutorial wizard.

Table description

  • Provides a product breakdown of all active products in the segment
  • The table can be filtered for specific subscriptions in the segment to provide more granular data

Metrics

  • Product: The product title; this value may appear as multiple rows if there are multiple variants or SKUs associated with this product title.
  • Variant: The variant title; this value may appear as multiple rows if there are multiple SKUs associated with this variant title.
  • SKU: The product SKU; this value may be blank if there are products without SKUs and it may repeat if the same SKU is used for multiple products or variants.
  • Active Quantity: This is sum of the quantity of units of this row that is active as of the last day of the date range; this number is different than active product subscription lines since this includes the sum of quantity.
  • Activations: This is count of product subscription lines created or added to subs in the date range with this product included.
    • Note: This metric includes all subscriptions created with this product as well as subscriptions that added this product as a recurring product (excludes one-time add-ons and Surprise and delights) added in the date range
    • Why provide both? With segment conditions, this allows you to use this table to isolate subscriptions created OR isolate subscriptions that have already been created to look only at the count of subscriptions that had this product added
  • Cancellations: This is count of product subscription lines cancelled or removed from subs in the date range with this product included.
    • Note: This metric includes all subscriptions cancelled with this product as well as subscriptions that removed this product as a recurring product (excludes one-time add-ons and Surprise and delights) in the date range
    • Why provide both? With segment conditions, this allows you to use this table to isolate subscriptions cancelled OR isolate subscriptions that have already been created to look only at the count of subscriptions that had this product removed
  • Revenue: This is the sum of revenue generated from this product row in the date range selected.

Subscription retention chart

Screenshot 2024-05-14 at 8.31.24 PM.png

Chart description

  • Provides the retention rate by month per subscription monthly cohort (the month the subscription was created) as well as retention by order count
  • The retention % states that the % of subscriptions is active on the last day month
    • Using the screenshot has an example above, in the July 2022 cohort in the screenshot, 84.5% of the 187 subscriptions were active on the last day of July 2023 (July 31st)
      • Signup = July 2022 (Month 1)
      • Month 1 (July 2022) = 84.5%; this means 84.5% of the subs created in July still had an active status on July 31st and 15.5% had cancelled before July 31st (in the month of July)
      • Month 2 (August 2022) = 72.7%; this means that 72.7% of the subs created in July still had an active status on the last day of August (August 31st) and 27.3% had cancelled before August 31st (in the month of August)
  • This table does not adjust based on the date filter, but will adjust for product filters used and filter for subscriptions in a segment when a segment filter is applied
  • The retention % will change if you're viewing the current month but will not change for prior months
    • For example, viewing the retention for October 2023 on October 10th will show a different number than when looking at the dashboard on November 1st
    • After October 31st (the day we check the retention for the month) the retention % won't change; so viewing the retention for October 2023 on November 1st will show the same number if viewed on December 1st.

Retention by month vs order count

  • This graph provides retention % for subscriptions based on time and order count on different tabs. The order month retention is the default, so select retention by order count select the order count tab at the top.

Retention by month

  • Focuses on the status of subscriptions by monthly cohort for each month after they were created.
  • Provides the % of subscriptions in the cohort that are still active on the last day of the month shown.
  • Hover over a cell to get a clear breakdown of what the cell provides.

Screenshot 2024-05-14 at 8.32.00 PM.png

Retention by order

  • Focuses on the number of orders processed per monthly cohort of subscriptions before cancelling.
  • Provides the % of subscriptions that had the order number process on their subscription.
  • Hover over a cell to get a clear breakdown of what the cell provides.
