# Why has my payment recovery rate increased so much from Analytics V2?

The increase in your payment recovery rate is likely due to changes in how recovery is measured in the updated Analytics V3 dashboard.

In the previous version, Analytics V2, recovery rates were often underreported because:

- The calculation used a **dynamic status**, so subscriptions that initially recovered but were later canceled were counted as unrecovered.
- It included **incomplete dunning cycles**("**Still in dunning**"), which lowered the rate by including subscriptions still mid-process.

The current version (V3) addresses both issues:

- It uses a **static status at the end of the dunning cycle**, capturing the subscription’s outcome when the cycle ends.
- It **excludes incomplete cycles**, focusing only on subscriptions that have finished or **exited** their dunning process.

These changes provide a more accurate view of recovery performance, which is why the reported rate may appear significantly higher.

In the [**Dunning dashboard**](/help/docs/dunning-dashboard), you can filter between **Entered Dunning**(subscriptions that entered dunning windows) and **Exited Dunning**(subscriptions that exited dunning windows).****The **Exited Dunning** view doesn't count any subscriptions that are "**Still in dunning**".

## How to analyze the Dunning Performance table

The **Dunning Performance** table helps you track how subscriptions are progressing through the dunning process. You can toggle between two views: **Entered Dunning** and **Exited Dunning**, each offering a different perspective on your recovery performance.

### What the Entered Dunning view shows

When you select **Entered Dunning**, you’ll see a breakdown of all subscriptions that *entered* the dunning state within the selected date range.

For example, between **September 24 and October 24, 2025**, the data shows:

- **805 subscriptions** entered dunning.
  - **465** were recovered.
  - **100** passively canceled (no payment was recovered before the dunning window ended).
  - **60** actively canceled by the customer.
  - **180** are still in dunning and haven’t completed the process yet.

### What the Exited Dunning view shows

Switch to **Exited Dunning** to see data only for subscriptions that have *completed* their dunning cycle within the selected range. This view excludes any subscriptions still in dunning, since their outcome hasn’t been finalized yet.

## Understanding the Recovery Rate metric

The **Recovery Rate** shows the percentage of subscriptions that were successfully recovered out of all those that *exited* dunning in the specified date range.

In the example above, since your selected range is already the last 30 days, the metric shows:

**74.4% recovery rate** = 465 recovered out of 625 subscriptions that exited dunning.

This offers a more accurate and time-bound view of your recovery performance, based only on completed dunning cycles.
