# Subscription Management

## What is the Subscription Management tab?

The Subscription Management tab is your control center for all customer subscriptions in Skio. It displays subscriptions in a visual card-based layout where you can:

- View upcoming billing dates and order history
- See which products are in each subscription
- Access customer details and portal links
- Make quick changes to subscriptions with actions like cancel, skip, pause, or merge subscriptions

This page helps you quickly resolve issues, edit subscriptions, and manage churn in one place.

## How to access subscription data

### Step 1: Navigate to Subscription Management

In the lefthand menu of your Skio Dashboard, go to **Subscribers**> **Subscriptions**

Access individual subscription cards by navigating to **Subscriber > Subscriptions** from the lefthand menu of your Skio Dashboard.

Each subscription card displays:

1. **Next billing date**: when the customer will be charged next
2. **Status**: current state of the subscription (Active, Paused, Canceled, etc.)
3. **Frequency**: how often the subscription recurs (e.g., every 2 weeks) and how many orders have already been completed
4. **Order summary**: products included, quantities, and price
5. **Timeline**: subscription start date and most recent order and a link to view the [subscription history](/help/docs/subscription-audit-log)
6. **Customer info**: email, name, and shipping address

You can search by email, name, phone number, or subscription ID. Use the status tabs to show only**Active, Paused, Failed, 3DS Error** or **Under Review**subscriptions.

## Take action on subscriptions

Each subscription card includes action buttons for managing customer subscriptions:

- **Cancel**: cancel the subscription entirely
- **Skip**: skip the next charge and move the billing cycle forward
- **More (⋯)**: reveals additional actions:
  - **Get now**: send the next order immediately
  - **Portal link**: copy a link to the customer's portal
  - **Magic link**: log in as the customer to manage the subscription
  - **Set date**: update the next billing date
  - **Merge**: combine this subscription with another one

### Available subscription management actions

From the subscription card and editing screens, you can manage these actions for customers:

- **Get now**: process the next order immediately
- **Skip**: skip the next billing cycle
- **Pause**: temporarily pause the subscription
- **Edit frequency**: change how often the subscription renews
- **Next order date**: update when the next order will be charged
- **Apply discount**: add discounts to the subscription
- **Cancel**: end the subscription
- **Merge**: combine multiple subscriptions into one
- **Split**: separate products into different subscriptions
- **Product skip**: skip individual products without affecting others
- **Gift on skip**: offer a gift when customers skip an order
- **Quantity editing**: adjust product quantities
- **Payment management**: add or update payment methods
- **Backup payment methods**: set up alternate payment options for failed charges

## Edit subscription products

### Step 1: Open the product editor

Click **Manage products** on the subscription card

From the Editing subscription products page, you can:

- **Adjust quantities**: increase or decrease units per product
- **Remove products**: click the trash icon to delete an item
- **Add products**: search or browse your catalog
- **Add upsells**: add one-time products not included in the core subscription
- **Skip individual items**: skip a single product without affecting the rest
- **Apply discounts**: add manual or line-item level discounts
- **Override price**: set a custom price for specific products

### Step 2: Save your changes

Click **Save** to confirm changes

## View related details

From the subscription card, you can also:

- **View profile**: takes you to the customer's profile in Customer Management
- **View order**: opens the related order in Shopify

### FAQ

#### Can customers skip or swap products on their own?

Only if those actions are enabled in your Portal Settings. You can adjust these settings under **Customer Portal** > **Portal Settings** or **CPv3 Settings**, depending on your version.

#### What happens if I override a product's price?

The override only affects that specific subscription going forward. It doesn't impact other customers or your product catalog.

#### What's the difference between Magic link and Portal link?

- **Magic link**: lets you log into the customer portal as the customer (no password needed)
- **Portal link**: the URL you can share with the customer so they can manage their subscription directly

#### What's the difference between merging and splitting subscriptions?

- **Merge**: combines multiple subscriptions into a single subscription with one billing date
- **Split**: separates products from one subscription into multiple subscriptions with different billing cycles

#### How do backup payment methods work?

Backup payment methods provide a fallback option when a primary Payment Method fails. You can add and manage these for customers to reduce failed charges and improve retention.

Your Skio Dashboard is the backend view of Skio where you manage your subscription program. This is the page you see when you log in to the Skio app, and it's where you'll configure products, view customer data, adjust settings, and access analytics to monitor your subscription performance.

The Customer Portal is an interface that allows subscribers to manage their subscriptions, including options to pause, modify, or cancel their subscription plans.

Payment Method refers to the various ways customers can pay for their subscriptions, including credit cards.
