Before creating a sectioned box, make sure you have already created the individual Dynamic Boxes you want to include as sections with the correct product restrictions, volume discounts, and customization settings. The sectioned box will inherit the configurations from each dynamic box (ranges, discounts, variant grouping, etc.)
If your main box and sectioned boxes need different product restrictions, you may need to create duplicate dynamic boxes with separate configurations.
What is a sectioned Build-a-Box?

An example of a Sectioned Box that consists of multiple Dynamic Boxes on the storefront.
A Sectioned Build-a-Box allows you to combine multiple Dynamic Build-a-Boxes into a single subscription product with organized sections. For example, you might create a beauty box with separate sections for lipstick, eyeshadow, and eyeliner, each with its own product selection and pricing rules.
Each section maintains its own:
Product selection range (minimum and maximum items)
Volume discount structure
Custom headers and variant grouping
Product restrictions
This structure helps you create complex subscription offerings where customers can choose products from different categories within a single box.
How to create a Sectioned Build-a-Box
Step 1: Create your Dynamic Boxes
Before building your Sectioned Box, you need to create each Dynamic Box that will become a section. Learn more about creating Dynamic Boxes in our guide here.
Example: For a makeup Sectioned Box, you might create three separate dynamic boxes:
Lipstick box: 1-3 items with $2 off volume discount
Eyeshadow box: 2-6 items with $2, $4, and $6 volume discounts
Eyeliner box: 1-6 items with $5 and $10 volume discounts
Step 2: Configure your Sectioned Box
In the Name your sectioned box field, enter a descriptive name for your box.
Under Select your children boxes, click Add.
Choose the Dynamic Boxes you want to include as sections in your sectioned box that you created in Step 1.
Each selected dynamic box will become a section in your final product, maintaining its configured item ranges, volume discounts, and product restrictions.
Step 4: Select one time upsell products (optional)
If you want to offer one-time add-on products with this box:
Under Select your one time upsell products, click the edit icon.
Choose which product variants you want to offer as one-time upsells.
Step 5: Customize your Build-a-Box template (optional)
Under Build-a-Box template customizations, you can configure the text and display options for your box builder page:
Header: Main heading text (default: "Build Your Custom Box")
Subheader: Supporting text below the main header
One time upsell header: Heading for the add-on section (default: "Choose Your Add-on")
One time upsell subheader: Supporting text for add-ons
Hide one time: Toggle to hide the one-time upsell section
Hide learn more: Toggle to hide additional information links
Default to one time purchase: Toggle to set one-time purchase as the default option instead of subscription
Step 6: Customize your Build-a-Box theme (optional)
Under Build-a-Box theme customizations, you can adjust the visual styling of your box builder page. By default, Skio pulls in your Shopify theme's colors and fonts, but you can override specific elements:
Header, subheader, and text colors
Primary button styling (background, text, and border colors for default and selected states)
Cart button styling (background, text, and border colors for default and disabled states)
Cart section and border colors
Badge styling (background and text for default and selected states)
Progress bar colors (active and default states for outer and inner circles)
Variant selector colors (background and highlight)
Quantity controls (text background and adjust button background)
Price marker colors (default and active states)
Step 7: Save your box
At the top right of the page, click Save changes.
Step 8: Add the box to your storefront
The box builder page is created automatically by Skio and has a unique URL in this format:
yourstore.myshopify.com/a/account/custom-tools/sectioned-box?id=YOURSECTIONEDBOXID

Access your box link through the View button.
After creating a box, a View button will appear at the top of the Build-a-Box page. Click this to open your box builder page and get the URL.

Use this URL to link to your box from anywhere on your site, such as your main menu.
Without including this URL in your theme (e.g., in your navigation, homepage, or product pages), the box will not display automatically on your storefront. You'll need to add links to this URL wherever you want customers to access the box builder.
Step 7: Save and preview your box
At the top right of the page, click Save changes. To view the box builder page, click the View button next to it.
Each section will maintain the configurations from its original dynamic box, including item ranges, volume discounts, and product restrictions.
