# Pausing Subscriptions

## Overview

The **Skio Pause Feature** empowers you to customize the subscription experience for your customers. You now have the flexibility to pause a subscription either **indefinitely** or for a **temporary** period, offering a more tailored approach to Subscription Management.

### Key Features

- **Indefinite Pause:** The Subscription is placed on hold until you or the subscriber manually unpauses it.
- **Temporary Pause:** Pause subscriptions for a predefined interval with customizable options.
- **Relative or Absolute Intervals:** Pauses can be set relative to the subscriptions billing cycle or for a specifics durations (e.g., 1 week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks, etc.)

## How to Set Up Pause Options

1. Enable pause subscription functionality.

- In your **Skio dashboard** click **Storefront**, and select **Customer Portal**. Go to the Experience tab and toggle on the **pause subscription** feature.
  - **Enable in Dashboard:** Allows you to pause subscriptions from the merchant dashboard.
  - **Enable in Customer Portal:** Gives subscribers the option to pause their subscription directly from their portal.

2. **Length of Pause:**

- Select either **Indefinite** or **Temporary.**
- For **Temporary pauses**, configure the internals based on **relative** or **absolute** durations:
  - **Relative:** Based on the subscription's billing cycle.
  - **Absolute**: Define a specific time interval.

3.**Maximum of Three Pause Options:**

- You can configure up to **three** different temporary pause intervals for customers to choose from.

## How to use the Pause Feature

### Skio Admin

- Once the feature is enabled, a **"Pause Subscription"** button will appear on the subscription page for each subscription.
- Click the button to pause the subscription. If paused temporarily, it will show when the subscription will resume. For indefinite pauses, the subscription will remain paused until manually unpaused.

### Customer Portal

- When enabled, subscribers can pause their subscription directly from their portal.
- **Temporary Pause:** The customer will see the unpause date displayed in their portal.
- **Indefinite Pause:** The subscription will remain paused until the customer decides to unpause.
- After unpausing, customers can choose to either order now or select a future order date.

#### Will orders still process for paused subscriptions?

No, once a subscription is paused, no orders will process until the subscription is unpaused.

#### How is pause data reflected in analytics?

- **Temporary Pauses:** Temporary pauses are not reflected as paused in analytics.
- **Indefinite Pauses**: Indefinite pauses are reported as paused in analytics.

#### How can we remind subscribers to unpause?

Skio provides **"Pause" and "Unpause"** notifications that can be integrated with Klaviyo and other tools.

#### How can we track paused subscriptions?
