# How to manually create subscriptions

## Before you start

> [!NOTE]
> To manually create a subscription, the customer **must** exist in Shopify with a first name, last name, and email address.

- Skio allows merchants to create subscriptions within the app for any existing Shopify customer, or for a new customer that is created as part of this process.
- Subscriptions must be created individually. Bulk adding subscribers is not supported outside of a migration from another platform.
  - For migrations, contact your Success Manager or email [success@skio.com](mailto:success@skio.com).
- A payment method is not required to complete this flow. You can skip the payment step, but the subscription will not bill successfully until a payment method is added.
  - If you have the customer's card information, you can manually add a payment method during [Step 5](/help/docs/manually-create-subscriptions#step-5-confirm-payment-details).
  - If the customer needs to add their payment details, send them a [Quick Action link](/help/docs/how-to-set-up-a-quick-action) to add a payment method or a [Checkout link](/help/docs/checkout-link-builder) to complete a new checkout.

## Step 1: Select “Create Subscription” on the Subscription page

> [!CAUTION]
> During this process do **not** hit back on your browser. Doing so will stop the process entirely. If you need to go back to change information you previously entered, use the **'Return to x'**buttons at the bottom of each screen.

1. In your Skio dashboard, click **Subscribers** and select **Subscriptions**.
2. Select **Create Subscription**. This will bring up a new screen to walk you through creating the subscription. ![Skio subscriptions page showing active subscriptions and options to manage them.](https://cdn.us.document360.io/a953bba6-c70d-43ce-bc77-d7f32a8fc514/Images/Documentation/CleanShot 2026-03-11 at 13.58.39.png)
