# How do I set up Apple Pay for subscriptions ?

## Before you start

Your store must meet Apple's requirements to enable Apple Pay:

- **Use Shopify Payments** as your Payment Processor
- **Enable SSL** on your store domain ([learn more here](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/domains/managing-domains/ssl-certificates))
- **Comply with Apple's Acceptable Use Guidelines** ([view guidelines here](https://developer.apple.com/apple-pay/acceptable-use-guidelines-for-websites/))
- **Business location**: Your business must be located in the United States, Canada, Australia, or New Zealand

## How to enable Apple Pay in Shopify

### Step 1: Navigate to payment settings

1. In your Shopify admin, go to **Settings** > **Payments**.

### Step 2: Enable Apple Pay

1. Click **Manage** in the section for your credit card payment provider.
2. In the **Wallets** section, select **Apple Pay**.
3. Click **Save**.

Once enabled, customers can use Apple Pay to check out on your store and manage their subscriptions.

## Supported payment methods

Customers can only use **Mastercard** or **Visa** credit cards when paying for subscriptions with Apple Pay. Other card types—including American Express, Discover, and Diners Club—are not supported for subscription payments through Apple Pay.

If customers want to use unsupported card types, they'll need to enter their card information directly at checkout instead of using Apple Pay.

A Payment Processor is a service that handles transactions between customers and merchants, facilitating the authorization and processing of payments for subscription services. For example, Stripe or Shopify Payments.
