Checkout Add-on Upsell

Before you start

• To use the Checkout Add-on Upsell, you’ll need to have Smart Upsell enabled and configured with rules.

• Make sure your store is on Shopify Plus. Advanced checkout customization is only available with Shopify Plus plans. You can learn more in the Shopify checkout customization guide here.

What is the Checkout Add-on Upsell?

The Checkout Add-on Upsell is a Shopify Checkout Extension that lets you show upsell offers directly on the checkout page. Instead of managing logic inside the extension, it uses the Smart Upsell rules you’ve already set up in the Skio app so you can reuse the same logic from your customer portal at checkout.

How it works

The extension automatically pulls upsell offers from your existing Smart Upsell settings in Skio. The same product rules used in the customer portal will apply at checkout.

Note

If you prefer not to use Smart Upsell, you can configure the extension to pull upsell products from a Shopify Collection instead.

How do I set up the Checkout Add-on Upsell?

Step 1: Open your Shopify Checkout settings

1. Log in to your Shopify admin.

2. Click Settings in the bottom-left corner.

3. Select Checkout from the left-hand menu.

Step 2: Customize your checkout theme

1. In the Configurations section, find Checkout theme.

2. Click Customize next to your active theme.

Step 3: Add the upsell app block into the checkout

1. In the checkout and accounts editor, scroll down the left-hand panel to Order summary.

2. Click Add app block.

3. Select the Checkout Add-on Upsell block from the list.

Step 4: Configure the upsell block settings

Once added, a settings panel will appear. You can configure the following options:

• Title: The default heading above upsell products is "You might also like".

• Max product count: Sets the maximum number of upsell products shown in the checkout block, up to 5.

• Use Smart Upsell:

  • Select true to use Skio’s Smart Upsell feature.

  • Select false to use a Shopify collection instead:

    1. Go to your Shopify admin.

    2. Click Products > Collections.

    3. Open your chosen collection.

    4. Copy the last 12 digits from the URL (yourstore.myshopify.com/collections/461417879636 or admin.shopify.com/store/youstore/collections/461417879636).

    5. Paste this number into the collection field.

• Preselect subscription purchase: Select true to automatically choose the subscription option for the product by default.

• Allow one-time purchase: Select true to let customers choose between a subscription or a one-time purchase.

Clicking the Add button instantly adds the product to the customer’s order and updates the checkout total in real time.
